The Big Bang Theory is about as nerdy as it gets on television! It’s also one of the biggest hits on TV, which has done wonders for nerds. The rest of the world is finally catching on to something us nerds have always known…we’re cool too!
But, as we all know, every nerd isn’t created equal and as we’ve seen on The Big Bang Theory, diversity makes for way more fun. It also means that the characters on the show are that much more relatable—as if sharing an affinity for all things fantasy and science wasn’t enough! So, the question is: what kind of nerd are you? Which of The Big Bang Theory characters are you most alike?
Let’s Hear It for the Boys
Sheldon “Shelly” Cooper- Theoretical Physicist. Brilliant, inappropriate, highly opinionated, stubborn, condescending, socially inept, but not crazy…his mother had him tested! In the past, he was thought to have Asperger Syndrome, but it seems his ability to adapt to social conventions over the years has disproved this theory.
Leonard Hofstadter- Experimental Physicist. Intelligent, personable, easy going, well-liked, well-rounded and decent track record with the ladies. Conventionally coolest nerd of the entire gang.
Howard Wolowitz- Aerospace Engineer. Astronaut, intelligent, “mama’s boy,” inappropriate and tendency towards traditional gender roles. Best friend of Raj; although some would go so far as to say they have an overreaching lack of boundaries with one another.
Rajesh “Raj” Koothrappoli- Particle Astrophysicist. Intelligent, accomplished, wealthy, spoiled and sensitive; often blurring the lines between femininity and masculinity. Face of diversity in the group.
Stuart Bloom- Comic Book Store Owner and talented artist. Awkward, funny, moderate social adeptness and sensitive. Has been known to push boundaries of inappropriateness. Once had enough confidence to convince Penny to go out on a date with him. Go Stuart! Also has a bromance with Raj.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Penny- Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. Honorary nerd by association. Street smart, sarcastic, most socially adept of the entire gang, funny, lighthearted, kind and free-spirited. Often provides a much needed balance of average amongst all the Mensa.
Amy Farrah Fowler- Neurobiologist. Intelligent, accomplished, awkward and silly. Is known for idolizing her self-proclaimed “bestie” Penny.
Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz- Microbiologist. Intelligent, sweet, friendly, loving, successful, easy going. Has a feisty wild side. Often is the voice of reason in the group.
