Fist Full of Gil – Fishing for Wins in the Wolves’ Den

In the last episode, we spent time fishing in between arena queues. Arena queues are surprisingly fast on Sunday night. During the week they take about 5 minutes to pop for DPS. I am becoming severely under-geared. I saw someone hit rank 30 and put on the full set of item level 90 PvP gear. I was frightened by the amount of damage I saw him put out. In contrast, I just recently picked up my second piece of item level 70 gear.

During the stream I tested out 3 different types of resistance using the colored drops added in patch 2.1. I created black, yellow, and white drops, corresponding to sleep, bind, and stun resistance respectively. Sleep and bind were very rare on me. In fact, I was never afflicted by them while I had the corresponding resistance food active. I was stunned while the white drops were active. The high quality white drops, which give 5 stun resistance, dropped the duration of the 6 second gladiator stun to 4 seconds. This saved me a couple times, so that will be the food of choice for me when in PvP.

I also had the new TP feathers to use in the arena, which allowed me to sprint after fleeing targets much more easily. Between Weapon Throw, Invigorate, and both TP feathers, I had no trouble keeping up with targets trying to get away. The materials are common results from Treasure Hunts, which makes them very inexpensive on the Market Board on my server. Your prices may vary, but I was buying them at 15 gil each. Those feathers completely resolved the problem I was having being constantly kited.

Next time, we’ll take a look at the Treasure Hunts from finding a map, deciphering the map, finding the treasure, and collecting the spoils. It’s a fun way to make some extra gil, and it’s even better if you do it with friends. So tune at 8 PM Central Time and we’ll go searching for buried treasure. Arrr!
