Hunting for Treasure – Fist Full of Gil

Last time on Fist Full of Gil, we did some treasure hunting that was added in patch 2.1. The entire process for treasure hunting involves finding the map, deciphering the map, finding the location on the map, killing the guards, and claiming the treasure.

Treasure maps come from gathering level 30 nodes and higher. They will randomly take the place of an empty slot on the node and can be only gathered once per 18 hours on each character. The maps summon enemies for levels 40 and up. The maps are only worth doing with a full group. Otherwise, more gil will be made by simply selling the map on the Market Board. I recommend taking a group of eight from your Free Company, all with maps.

I used Party Finder to find a group to do one of the highest level maps. Think of the Party Finder like a bulletin board where people can join a party as long as the requirement set by the organizer are met. An average item level can be set which restricts who can join.

The rest of the stream was a Duty Finder Crystal Tower. (I’m trying to strike the memory of that Duty Finder Garuda Extreme from my memory.) Unfortunately, this did not result in additional treasure outside of tomestones. Crystal Tower is a 24 man raid that was added in patch 2.1 that is much easier than the Binding Coil of Bahamut.

This week, I’ll try to play with a controller just to show how that works. I’ve been trying it on a new character, and I think I’ve got it down enough to not embarrass myself. So turn in to Noobist.tv at 8PM Central time on Sundays.
