Yippie ki-yay, ummm…. Beta?

Yesterday Carbine Studios, maker of the upcoming MMOARPGWTFBBQ WildStar Online, announced that Beta invites will be going out.

What is WSO, you ask?

If you ask Carbine Studios, they will sum it up as two sides fighting, exploring, and building shit on a badass planet, where shit is about to get real.

If you ask players in waiting, they will sum it up the same as every other game they froth at the mouth to pla…I mean test in beta.  Actually, this part doesn’t really matter.

What matters is how the developer sees the game – and what they feel that the community as a whole will enjoy the most.  I can open a lawn mowing service in game.  I perform upkeep on your property for you, and I get a cut of the work I do.  It is a time sink where I help another player, while seeing other players’ artistic creativity being displayed in how they organize their home.  Sadly, though, before the game launches, a guide will cover the “optimum” build and setup for maximum output.

Carbine has partaken in many discussions with players, asking for feedback.  They seem to have played it smart by gathering community input while developing WildStar Online.  This is a good thing, but until the masses slam open the gate and begin experiencing bugs and breaks in the game, and subsequent fixes are put in place, we can’t know how things are going to pan out.

What can I tell you about WildStar Online?

Well, that’s simple.  This guy is smoking a cigarette.  He also looks like he is a mix between Alister Caine with a bit of Jean Havoc mixed in, standing in front of the moon that I  don’t think I saw in the trailer, but am too lazy to double check.

In all honesty, one can write all day long about a game, and how great it is going to be, but the only one who can make the final judgment, is you.  So, head on over and register for the beta if you have not done so yet.  If you are lucky enough to get in, and happen to like what you see, or even have feedback for the folks over at Carbine, then make sure you follow them.
