The Flash: Fast Enough

Run. Barry. Run. The Flash season finale was outstanding, as to be expected. After all, executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg were the ones who wrote it. All you need to know is that Eddie is an untouchable—basically—and Barry can really run, but that’s only half of it. Here’s my recap and review of The Flash: Fast Enough. Spoiler alert!

Eddie Potentially Ignites a DC Ret-Con

EddieWe should have known that one had to be coming. You know what I’m talking about: the classic DC ret-con. What most of us fans of the show probably didn’t see coming, however, was the how. Or, in this case who was going to ignite it. Enter Eddie Thawne.

Poor Eddie still can’t seem to catch a break. But this time it has pretty much nothing to do with Iris and everything to do with his decedent Eobard. What would you do if you found out that your decedent was a murdering sociopathic time traveler? Asked and answered, right? So, who could blame Eddie for wanting to put an end to Eobard’s madness? The only problem was by killing himself, and essentially erasing Eobard from existence, he reopened the worm hole which had the potential to negate the entire first season of The Flash. It also triggered a black hole that Barry needed to close or else the entire world would be destroyed. Can we say run Barry run?

Easter Eggs

Rip Hunter

As usual, there were a couple Easter eggs in the season finale of The Flash. Perhaps the most obvious was the reference to the Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick, when we saw his helmet flying out of the worm hole from the past just before Eobard was set to depart for good. Who could miss the classic Mercury inspired headgear as it clanged to the floor of STAR labs?

Then, merely minutes later Eobard gave a shout-out to Rip Hunter, genius inventor and fellow time traveler, who as you may already know will be a part of the new CW TV show DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Okay Berlanti and Kreisberg, we get it. You’re linking all the DC shows together. You can stop teasing us because we’re already losing it from excitement.

Looking Ahead to Season 2

TheGangSince The Flash ended on a huge cliffhanger, we are all left to speculate about the possibilities that are likely to be a part of the plot for season 2. On the one hand, if Barry is able to run fast enough to close the worm hole, then everything from season 1 would stand and Eobard and Eddie would come back. But, if he has to go back inside the worm hold and change anything—anything at all—from the past, then that would obviously change the present, including everything that happened in season 1. We could be looking at a complete redo of season 1 thanks to the past being altered, if that indeed happens. Rumor has it that the show may add Wally West—Iris West’s nephew also known as Kid Flash—to the cast for next season. Can we say game changer? I, for one, can’t wait to see how this will all play out.

What did you think of the season finale of The Flash? Do you anticipate a ret-con for season 2?
