The Real Reasons the Grinch Stole Christmas

Tis the season to be jolly! Well, not if you’re the Grinch. We’ve all heard the tale and perhaps even seen the movies- both live action and animated- but what if there was in fact more to the story. Here’s what I think might have happened.

1. He was trying to recycle.

Ok, it’s a bit farfetched, but here goes. What if the Grinch was trying to recycle the trees for firewood, it’s possible right? Unfortunately, he started a bit too early…as it was still Christmas Day and all.

2. The toy stores were sold out of his favorite train set.

Grinch_2

Don’t you just hate it when the stores sell out of the one thing you were looking for? Well, what if that’s what happened with the Grinch. So, naturally, he decided to take it upon himself to take the train sets from every child Whoville.

3. The drug store was closed and he couldn’t get more ointment.

There is nothing like a little holiday discomfort to turn your smile upside down. And, it looks like the Grinch got a serious dose. Too bad the drug stores were closed and he couldn’t buy his ointment.

4. He’s Agnostic.

Grinch_4

With the all the celebrations of various kinds, it could be possible that one of the real reasons the Grinch was so grumpy on Christmas was because he was Agnostic. Now it all makes sense.

5. A voice in his head told him to.

Grinch_5

Like every other certifiable crazy person in history (real or fictitious), it all starts with the voices in the head. What if the Grinch was acting on orders to destroy Christmas in Whoville from a voice in his head? After all, crazy is as crazy does.

6. He was angry he packed on a few pounds.

Grinch_6

Nobody likes to gain weight during the holidays and the Grinch is no different from us in that regard. Although, going on a rampage to rid every house in Whoville of your favorite treats because you’re unhappy with your weight gain is probably excessive.

7. He forgot to go grocery shopping.

Grinch_7

Maybe the Grinch was upset that he forgot to go to the grocery store. But then again, does that really justify stealing everyone else’s holiday dinner?

8. He couldn’t afford new socks.

Grinch_8

What better way to stock up on new socks then to go from house to house stealing them from Whos? Maybe that’s what the Grinch was thinking. The only problem is, none of the socks probably fit him, which would have made the whole effort for not.

9. The whole town was partying and he wasn’t invited.

Grinch_9

Loud noises and flashing lights; how was the Grinch supposed to know that it was Christmas that was causing all the cheer and ruckus? He thought the town was engaging in a rave and worse yet, he wasn’t invited.

10. He wanted to give his dog one last hurrah before putting him down for rabies.

Grinch_10

In a failed attempt to be a good dog owner, the Grinch thought it prudent to give Max one final adventure before putting him down. Too bad it was before his heart melted.
