Galactic Civilizations III Enters Beta, or Space Stuff and Things!

The Galactic Civilizations series is a popular one that is held in high regard from the past. Galactic Civilizations III is now in beta, bringing us even closer to the latest space 4x game from Stardock. Or, if you want, play it right now on Steam Early Access at a five dollar discount ($44.99).

I played the originals a decent amount, but was not as obsessive with the title as many. That said, I am looking forward to this one as it brings the tried and true series into glorious 64-bit computer. I don’t honestly know why I care about that, but I’m always happier when I can run games in 64 vs. 32. The downside is that you must have a 64-bit Windows PC to run the game.

We all know what 4x games are and what to expect, but imagine Civilization in Space. Elite Founders have been in on the game for years and the feedback has been a guide to the design of the game. Hopefully that means that we are going to get something truly special.

With a ship designer, your creative juices should be rocking and rolling. For those that want to just get a little Games of Thrones-ey diplomacy is back in full force and allows you to get political – IN SPACE!.

More features are on the way, so understand that if you jump on ship right now (I know, I know) you are going to get a partially completed title. I’m sure it is pretty damn good already, but not yet feature complete. You can check out the stream of the game every Friday at 3pm EST if you aren’t sure just yet.
