Gamelock.com Changes the Retail Face of Gaming

Most of the time when everyone wants to get rid of a game, going to the store means either getting store credit or points or rarely getting a small amount of cash back. There’s even some websites that will buy entertainment items from people for cash but it tends to be again, for a small amount. Now there’s a website called GameLock which allows people to buy games and then return them to the website and get a decent amount of money back. What’s the fine print?

Details, Details:

  • GameLock has many titles available to buy
  • When buying a game, there are options to lock in an optional resale date for 30, 60, or 90 days.
  • Play the game then mail it back at the end of the resale date. GameLock will even provide a prepaid mailer so postage is free.
  • Get cash back.

Is it really as simple as those four steps? Well, the first thing that needs to be said is that the buyer has to trust the site for the products and service that they are saying that they provide.

Finer print:

  • They have games for most consoles Playstation 3 and 4, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, Xbox One and Xbox 360; no PC games.
  • Even though they offer the 30 to 90 day resale option; it doesn’t need to be clicked. People can buy a game and not choose a resale date then after they complete the game and they wish to resale it, they can. They will still send you a prepaid envelope for people to send the game back. Not only that but if a person chooses to sell their game back before their resale date, they can.
  • People can only sell games to GameLock that was bought at GameLock; so if a game was bought at GameStop or Game it can’t be sold to GameLock.
  • Consoles are currently not bought or sold at GameLock
  • At the moment, GameLock is only available for the United States; for now.

“I knew there had to be a better way and that’s why I started GameLock.com,” said Founder and CEO, Andy Altschuler. “When gamers buy a game at GameLock.com, they can lock-in a guaranteed future resale. If they choose to exercise the resale option, they simply place the game into our prepaid envelope and drop it in the mailbox. Or if they choose not to resell, they can simply keep the game, just like with a traditional purchase.”

At least this company is here and established; hopefully they will grow internationally and every gamer in the world will be able to benefit from their out of the box thinking.
