IGN recently broke the news regarding the unfortunate layoffs made at Sucker Punch Productions. As a Sony owned company, Sucker Punch are known for their Playstation exclusive Infamous and Sly Cooper series’. Although Sony has not confirmed the amount of layoffs made, they offered IGN this statement regarding the matter:

SCEA can confirm a reduction in workforce has taken place at Sucker Punch Productions. Sucker Punch is appreciative of the tremendous work team members contributed to the inFAMOUS and Sly Cooper series, and wishes them the best in their next endeavors.

This is a tough blow to employees at Sucker Punch Productions and we at The Noobist extend our condolences to the individuals affected by the layoffs. However, not all opportunity is lost for said employees. Boss Key Productions – a new studio co-founded by Cliff Bleszinski and Guerrilla Games co-founder Arjan Brussee – reacted to the news with the following tweet.

This is an incredible gesture by Boss Key Productions and displays a real sense of comradeship between developers in the video game industry. After publicly announcing his retirement in 2012, Bleszinski later announced his return to video game development via his twitter account.

Boss Key Productions are currently working on their first game Project Blue Streak, a free-to-play sci-fi arena shooter for PC. A release date and final project name are yet to be announced, however the following concept art has been released.
