In the last episode of Fist Full of Gil, I ran around my server Midgardsormr making high level items for free for people. I ended up making 2 items and doing a few materia melds.
The next day, the FFXIV community team posted the following message: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/122794-Please-adjust-Tomestone-crafting-material-requirements?p=1620661#post1620661
We understand that the cost of materials for 2-star crafts is a bit high when it comes to their ingredients purchased with Allagan tomestones of philosophy. Therefore, we will make the necessary changes to recipes that use more than 1125 tomestones and scale them down a bit so all of the recipes will no longer use more than 1125 tomestones.
For those of you that wasted materials in past couple weeks, I’m sorry. I wish I had seen this coming earlier. The demand for Tomestones may suddenly drop. The supply will also increase since more ways of earning Tomestones are coming into the game in patch 2.1 currently slated for December 17th. Market prices for Tomestones may drop in half unless there is also a massive increase in demand. This is certainly possible since there will more ways for spiritbonding the items crafted from them. Currently, those items can only be spiritbound in the Binding Coil of Bahamut. Converting the item level 70 crafted items into materia always results in Tier 4 materia. Materia prices may also fall.
The implications of this change are so great that I feel I should dedicate an entire episode to discussing it. So join me on the Noobist twitch channel http://www.twitch.tv/thenoobist at 8:00 PM Central on December 8th 2013 and we’ll chat about it.
