Information overload! Last night’s Arrow was filled with enough cliffhangers to keep us guessing until the show returns in a few weeks. Perhaps one of the biggest potential plot twists/cliffhangers was regarding the fate of the Arrow. Nearly minutes before the conclusion of the episode, the Arrow received a job offer that pretty much answered any questions anyone may have had about the Arrow series taking a page or two from the Batman comics. And from the looks of the preview for the next episode, the Arrow’s decision may not be what everyone is expecting; especially his crew. In case you haven’t yet guessed from the title of the episode, Ra’s al Ghul plays a major role. Spoiler alert!
Arrow vs. Ra’s al Ghul Part II
In a seemingly selfless act to protect Thea’s soul, Oliver set out once again on a suicide mission to rescue Merlin from Ra’s al Ghul; but we all knew the real reason for his journey. Ego aside, of course once Oliver arrived at Nanda Parbat he was once again at the mercy of Ra’s. No surprise there. However, this time, because he brought Diggle along there was more at stake. The plot was just about to thicken.
After having some time to make peace with the fact that they were probably going to die—not really since Oliver/Arrow is the star of the show and all—both Oliver and Diggle were brought into a room to face their executioner, Ra’s. As to be expected, Oliver pleaded for Diggle’s life instead of his own; but in an unexpected twist, Ra’s al Ghul asked Oliver to be his replacement in the League of Assassins….holy Batman! Will he accept? Tune in March 18; same bat time, same bat channel!
The Big Reveal
Finally, after nearly an entire season of teasing, The Atom debuted in full costume on last night’s episode of Arrow. Ironically, he looked suspiciously similar to another superhero from DC’s marvelous competitor, which only was solidified when The Atom took to flight; but more on that in a minute. First, let’s talk about the fact that Felicity and Ray Palmer finally acted on their feelings for one another and hooked up. Tension had been building between those two for a while now, so I think it’s safe to say that most of us couldn’t help but see that eventual hook up coming from a mile away.
Speaking of sparks flying, Ray Palmer finally figured out the missing piece of the molecular formula to make his Atom suit fully functional. What many of us may not have seen coming was the moment when the fully suited Ray Palmer/The Atom lifted off into the sky, indicating that this Atom is not quite like The Atom some of us were expecting. I am however anxious to see how Iron Man, I mean The Atom, will fit into Starling City’s current team of vigilantes; if at all. This should be good!
Arrow returns with new episodes to CW on March 18 at 8:00pm EST.
