Atlus’ Rollers of the Realm Teaser Trailer

ATLUS is known for putting out some odd titles. This time around we are getting a Pinball RPG hybrid. You may remember Epic Pinball which promised something similar, but it looks like ATLUS is going to take that idea and run wild with it.

From the press release:

In the game, static pinball tables are replaced by dynamic locations with objectives, secrets, and multiple areas. Along with the standard bumpers are AI-controlled enemies, who can attack and do damage to the pinball flippers. And the familiar shiny silver pinballs? Those become playable characters, each with different attributes, special abilities and even physics. The story opens up through an epic six chapters, where players will have to master the strengths and weaknesses of each character ball.

Players will also find compelling backstories and personal agendas that are revealed over the course of the game. Voice acted cinematics and dialog scenes will tell the tale of a kingdom overrun by… pinball stuff? I don’t know. It sounds irreverent, outside of classification and completely ATLUS.

The RPG side of the game includes upgrades for characters in the form of enchantments and special abilities that will be needed to beat the game’s bosses as well as new characters and abilities that can be unlocked. An item shop will also offer a number of useful tools. All of these features should bring the RPG portion of this hybrid front and center.

Rollers of the Realm will release for digital download on PC, PS4, and PS Vita this holiday season. We should get more information about the title after some hands-on time at the ATLUS E3 Booth.
