The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, the remake of Edmund McMillen’s brutally challenging roguelike, finally has an official release date of November 4th. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer, which is suitably disturbing. Check it out below.
The game will release for PC, PS4, and PS Vita with PS+ subscribers receiving the game for free. PC gamers can begin pre-ordering the game now on Steam. As an added bonus, owners of the original game will receive a 33% discount.
Highlights of the updated version include new features such as new bosses and playable characters, new items, multiple save files, a new engine designed to run steadily at 60FPS, and a local co-op mode which you can see in action in the video below.
I’ve put more than my fair share of time into the original game and I still haven’t managed to clear it more than a couple times. I also still haven’t gotten bored of trying to overcome its significant challenges. With the promise of increased polish, co-op play, and more than double to content, Rebirth will certainly be worth the purchase for those who haven’t yet played the original. The same will be true for those who find themselves coming back to the first entry time and time again.
For those who have tried Isaac before and found it not to be to their tastes, however, this entry will not change that fact.
