2k announced via Twitter that the critically acclaimed game Bioshock will be coming to iPad and iPhone in the near future. The company made the announcement today following a teaser image posted on 2K UK’s Twitter feed on the 24th of July, featuring an image from Eve’s Garden, stating “Come bite the Apple!”. The game will be premium priced, with no micro-transactions added.
iPad 4, iPad Mini 2 and iPad Air, plus iPhone 5, 5S and 5C devices are confirmed to be compatible with the iOS release. Many fans are worried about the playability of the game on the platform.
Whilst 2K has confirmed that Bioshock iOS will be compatible with the iPhone game controller, the game has been optimized for touch-style play.
Eurogamer wrote “The game’s touchscreen controls are easy to master and there’s a handy button to perform contextual actions – such as the ability to loot when standing over a corpse or crate”, but also warned that the touch controls were not perfect.
Whilst the release date is currently unknown, hands-on experience with the game has so far proven to be positive, with only a few areas showing loss in visual quality due to the lower processing power of and the smaller aspect ratio required for the touch-screen controls on the devices.
The price and release date have yet to be announced.
