Calling all Whovians! This September, Minecraft players on the Xbox 360 will be able to download the Doctor Who theme pack. Avatars will include the twelfth doctor, Peter Capaldi, as well as five further doctors, and their companions. Enemy skins so far include the Daleks, with more to be announced. The Weeping Angels and the Cybermen will be sure to make an appearance, so Who fans fear not.
Rikesh Desai, the Games Director of BBC worldwide UK said “We’re constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring Doctor Who content to our loyal fans. Working collaboratively with Microsoft, we’ve created an exciting new product which will allow Doctor Who fans to create their own brand new adventures in the heart of the iconic world of Minecraft”
This is not the first time the BBC and Microsoft have teamed up, with the Top Gear track featuring in Forza. Hopefully there is more BBC themes to come as Sherlock and Merlin are two franchises that I would personally would love to see receive the Minecraft treatment. With Doctor Who’s long 50 year history, there is a lot to be done with the franchise, so we can only sit back and see what Microsoft do with it.
It will cost $2.99/£1.99/€2.85 and is set to come out early September.
