People within the mainstream video gaming industry at some stage may get the urge to branch out and luckily for software such as Unreal Engine, it makes it easier and more possible for people to break away from that mainstream and carve their way through the digital landscape of games and their genres.
One game in particular called, “Flame in the Flood” is one of those games. It’s like the colored version of “Don’t Starve” in the sense that well, it’s not black and white and it’s about surviving the lands.
Flame in the Flood is a game where the player takes the reigns of a little girl on a journey to survive the impending rain storm that will engulf the lands. She either does it on foot or by the river; like Huckleberry Finn – navigating through choppy and debris filled waters. There’s barely any interaction with humans (noticeable by the trailer) but the environment is interactive and will push the story and character forward.
The creators of the game have experience in helping create games such as Bioshock, Halo, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band; making them serious veterans of the mainstream gaming industry and they’re finally breaking free with this PC survival game.
Currently, it’s on Kickstarter holding a massive pledge of $207,616 with 10 more days for people to be kind and back this beautifully created game.
