A few days ago, images of Telltale Games’ rendition of Game of Thrones leaked from Twitter. And now, just after a week since unveiling the first trailer for Tales from the Borderlands, Telltale Games has released the first trailer for Game of Thrones.
Additionally, Telltale Games has announced that many fan favorite characters from the TV Show will be making their appearance along with their respective voice actors in the episodic game series. They revealed only four: Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer), and Ramsay Snow (Iwan Rheon). It was also revealed back in April that HBO has assigned George R.R. Martin’s personal assistant, Ty Corey Franck, as Telltale Games’ story consultant on the game.
Players will control five different characters throughout the six-episode series all hailing from House Forrester, a house that has not been explored in the Game of Thrones TV Show.
“House Forrester is a noble house from the Wolfswood in the north of Westeros. Bannermen to House Glover, they have always offered unswerving loyalty to the ruling great house of the North – the Starks. The Forresters are seated at Ironrath, an imposing stronghold surrounded by towering ironwood trees. Built over fifteen hundred years ago by Cedric Forrester and his triplet sons, Ironrath is a testament to the strength and endurance of Ironwood. The Forrester house words are ‘Iron from Ice’, which echoes their belief that – like the ironwood itself – the adverse conditions and unforgiving landscape of the North only makes them stronger.”
The choices the player makes with one character can have consequences for another, a narrative mechanic rarely used in game design. It will be exciting and daunting to take on these decisions and compare them with your friends or people all over the world to see what choices were made.
Game of Thrones will be available on PC, Mac, Playstation 3 & 4, Xbox 360 & One, and iOS. Availability on other platforms will be announced sometime in the future. As far as release dates are concerned, Telltale Games has only said “soon.” Stay up to date by following Telltale Games on Twitter and Facebook and check out the official website for Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series.
