Puzzle platformers. It’s a genre that has seen huge growth in recent years, but Magnetic By Nature takes the standard run-and-jump gameplay and decides to use something with a little more flow.
Magnetic By Nature is the debut game of Team Tripleslash. It’s another puzzle platformer, but unlike many others in the genre, the game focuses on fluid, momentum based controls, adding another level of skill to the experience.
Players will take on the role of the last robot alive in the ruins of a fallen machine-age civilization. Seeing as you’re a robot surrounded by metal, you can use magnetic abilities to travel and explore the post-apocalyptic wasteland. The goal is to locate and reactivate your robotic companions.
What makes the game really stand out is the art style. Whilst the little robot is very simply rendered, the backgrounds are lovingly designed to give hints at the history of this now dead world. The saturated colour palette gives it a somewhat ghostly feel, and the effects for the magnetic abilities are very distinct.
Magnetic By Nature will be released on OUYA on August 20th for $9.99. The game is slated for release on PC, Mac and Linux at a later date.
