OUYA announced yesterday that due to the success of the game, Rise & Shine: Back to Bed on Android and iOS, it will be available to buy from their store for $3.99 on 7th October 2014.
Back to Bed follows a character named Bob who is an active narcoleptic who falls asleep at random times; especially at his place of work where he ends up sleepwalking out of the office and into the city.
Bob’s subconscious mind manifests as a quadrupedal green creature named Subob whose mission is to ensure that Bob’s body stays alive – this is the character that players will be playing in Back to Bed.
Subob must navigate through very detailed, physics defying three dimensional levels by using its wits as well as environment to ensure that Bob maneuvers around the deadly risks that await him on his journey; everything from perilous cliffsides, aggressive alarm clocks, and random gaping maws with razor sharp teeth coming out from the ground – all out to end Bob and Subob’s lives.
Back to Bed is like a nightmare that Salvador Dali had whilst having the flu and was hallucinating strangely angled lines with shapes twisting and bending into very odd shapes. The game is styled after history’s favorite surrealist: the game features Salvador Dali’s obsession with time, Margritte’s iconic green apple, and Escher’s impossible lines and angles – which all work harmoniously in this sleepwalker’s dreamscape.
