Let’s be honest, we all love watching YouTube – whether it’s covers of music, gross videos, pet videos, make up/hair tips, or even cooking recipes brought to life, we all enjoy a bit of YouTube. However, for those who consider themselves (or others consider them) a “Geek” or a “Nerd”, YouTube is a place of sharing ideas or just having a laugh. For those geeks & nerds who are into putting gadgets together, they may go to The Ben Heck Show or if they enjoy a bit of laughing at popular culture, they may go to How It Should Have Ended , Bad Lip Reading or Sir Connor Anderson. Want something more medieval and have an interest in being a modern day blacksmith? You maybe one of the many subscribers of Epic Fantasy.
However, if you’re just in the median of all that gooey geek/nerdy-ness then you maybe a subscriber of The Buzz Feed Video page. Unlike their actual website which has random articles about the mainstream, their videos can cause one to chuckle or even laugh out loud uncontrollably; especially the videos that star the Dead Pan comedian guy who portrays subject matter into human behavior such as “Doing Things in a Video Game That Would be Creepy in Real Life” or “Things That Cats Do That Would be Creepy if You Did Them“. These are the sort of videos that are like stand up comedians; they observe things that we all do or experience in some manner that we normally don’t sit and ponder about too much and they bring it into focus making us realize just how odd it is if it was put in situations that would make it awkward or just simply funny.
This sort of randomness in my opinion is definitely a geeky or nerdy niche that isn’t too out there for those “normal” people I’ve heard so much about! So have a chat with one of those normal folk; break the ice and say something like “Hey, did you see that Buzz Feed Video where this guy is showing if you do (insert subject matter here) that it would be creepy if we did it?”
And if you’ve never heard of any of these that I’ve listed, have a peek – you may find yourself desiring after a homemade forge or console or awaiting the next funny video posted in the other YouTube channels!
Either way, enjoy them and embrace the Geekside! It’s out there.
