Marvel’s Agent Carter has had a lot of downs this season. Obstacles are constantly getting in her way preventing her from attaining her culprit. Forces are working against her and it is only a matter of time until she is proven right, but only time will tell who will get hurt on her search for truth.
Interrogations
Masters is interrogating Dottie Underwood with threats of torture. He is desperate to know what Peggy is up to, but Dottie is a lot tougher than he imagined. Masters gets called away by Whitney Frost, courtesy of her new security force, led by her gangster friends. She tasks Masters to take care of Agent Carter and it looks by the end of the conversation that Masters has finally met his match. Whitney decides to talk to Dottie herself and despite all of Dottie’s training, she is no match for zero matter powers that Whitney has acquired. Dottie breaks and now has a way to find her nuclear cores.
Tensions Rising
Peggy, Wilkes and the Jarvis’ work for an answer when Wilkes loses it a bit. He is shifting in an out of phase and what he sees frightens him enough to have a go at Peggy. The sample of zero matter they acquired and the device they created, helped Wilkes becoming whole again. His first thing to do is lay one on Peggy, who seems to enjoy it but is hesitant, or so it seems, with the new development between her and Chief Sousa. Sousa himself is confronted by Masters and is given an ultimatum in helping him. Masters is using his silver tongue to try and convince Sousa to join his side. False promises and an uneasy parting is all they get for it.
The Wrong Trap
Dottie’s tracker finally turns on and Peggy wants to willingly walk into the trap. The Jarvis’ share a moment and him and Peggy bring a sweet looking Stark toy to take Whitney down. On the ride over, Jarvis and Peggy have a humorous conversation detailing with Peggy’s love life. The conversation leads Peggy to realize that two very successful men are interested in her. Surprisingly, for one so intelligent and beautiful, this is a surprise but then again, this is the 1940’s. Unfortunately for Jarvis and Peggy things go wrong really quick when Jarvis can’t remember the code to fire the device. Luckily for them, they are quickly reunited with Dottie in her prison. Dottie and Peggy share some witty banter while they both manage to wiggle free from their restraints. Dottie tries to talk her-type-of-sense into Peggy, positive her idealism will get them killed. That’s when they realize the trap wasn’t meant for Peggy at all.
Mrs. Jarvis and Wilkes share a nice dinner and a conversation discussing her worries over Jarvis and his escapades with Peggy. Whitney arrives at Stark mansion and despite the alarm, makes her way into the basement where Wilkes is. Whitney circles his containment machine like a lion hunts a gazelle. She is driven to near insanity it seems with her obsession of zero matter. Her attempt to take back the zero matter that Wilkes got from her backfires and he is able to absorb more. They are at a standstill as Whitney’s attempts to persuade him to join her cause when her gangster friend causes a distraction, allowing her to conk him on the head. Meanwhile, before Sousa can make his way to the mansion, he receives a butt whooping from unknown assailants. When Peggy and Jarvis arrive (Dottie secure in the trunk of the car), Whitney decides to shoot Mrs Jarvis in the gut, allowing her to escape with Wilkes. Jarvis is in shock as they rush Mrs. Jarvis to the hospital and a nosy cop unintentionally sets Dottie free.
Masters makes his play taking over the west coast SSR branch, relieving Sousa of duty while he recovers from his injuries. Peggy and Jarvis share a moment while they wait to hear news on Mrs. Jarvis. The show fades away and Marvel’s Agent Carter just keeps getting better. The story is finally progressing, and I am looking forward to the conclusion of this season. Politics, super powers, scientific ingenuity and Hayley Atwell make Monsters one of the best episodes of the series yet. Next week will follow up with another 2 episode night.
