Future Release: Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain

So with Gamescom just around the corner, we can expect some new games to be announced. However, it’s the games that have already been announced that are the most exciting. Today we’ll be looking at Kojima’s new title; Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain.

Phantom Pain is an upcoming open world, action-adventure stealth video game developed by Kojima Productions and directed, designed, co-produced and co-written by Hideo Kojima. The game serves as a sequel to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and a continuation of the narrative established there, and will carry over the same tagline of Tactical Espionage Operations first used in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Set in 1984, the game follows the mercenary leader Punished “Venom” Snake as he ventures into Africa and Afghanistan during the Soviet–Afghan War to exact revenge on the people who destroyed his forces and nearly himself during the climax of Ground Zeroes.

Personally I am excited for this title. The last game in the Metal Gear Solid series was Ground Zeroes, which was sort of a lightning rod for controversy as the campaign was only a few hours long, but was being sold for full retail price. This was a problem, but they quickly changed the price down about 80% of the original.

I support Kojima 100% and I believe that they have created a game that fans of the series will treasure. Phantom Pain will open the doors for a new age of Metal Gear fans, which is the right direction for this studio to go in.

Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain releases September 1st 2015 for; Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
