Last time on Fist Full of Gil I ran through Copperbell Mines on my low level Conjurer. However there was a problem. I had accidentally broken down all my Conjurer gear for materia while leveling my Thaumaturge. That meant the first order of business was making some gear for the Conjurer. It took about 45 minutes to make a full set of gear, or the time it would take to run one dungeon. I slotted the gear with materia to make it equal to dungeon drops. This is one of the perks of having 6 crafters at level 50.
There is an attitude that poisons the low level dungeons in this game. The attitude that “since it’s low level the mechanics don’t matter” drove me insane in those dungeons. Please be kind to your healers. I was tempted to leave those groups more than once. If it was ignorance that caused the problem, I wouldn’t have been mad about it, but the players in those groups clearly knew better from the interactions in party chat.
I am awful about staying in Cleric Stance when swapping to heals. Healers in Final Fantasy 14 do not just spam healing. There are times when the MP is better spent on damage than heals. For example, in Halatali on the first and final bosses, it is more MP efficient to use Stone to kill the adds than cast Medica to heal up from the party damage that not killing the adds causes. The Lancer in that Halatali group thought otherwise, so I had to remind him after the first boss.
Patch 2.1 went live the day after this video and I’ve been spending most of my time in-game in the Wolves’ Den. The influences from Dark Age of Camelot are readily apparent. Casting is interrupted on any direct damage. There’s a separate leveling system that gives Action Points to obtain situational abilities that are only usable in PvP. There are far more abilities to purchase than you will ever have points to obtain. If you played DAoC, you’ll feel very comfortable with the system.
